Deja Foster
Writing Strategist
Deja Foster, a Boston native based in Providence, RI, joins English Hudson as an educator, storyteller, and community strategist. With over a decade of experience in education and five years in community development and fundraising, Deja brings a deep commitment to equity and community-driven change—a conviction rooted in dismantling oppressive systems and creating inclusive spaces, with a particular focus on Black communities.
Her specialty lies in her creativity and unique ability to shift spaces and empower individuals, communities, and stagnant systems. Passionate about storytelling and creating equitable systems, Deja’s work centers collaboration, innovation, and community voice, and her writing has successfully funded programming for youth education, workforce development, and transportation justice.
Deja holds a Bachelor’s in English and Journalism from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Master’s in Education and a Grant Writing Certificate From UMASS Boston.
In her free time, Deja is a lifelong learner who enjoys engaging in teacher training, such as breathwork, Pilates, and Kundalini yoga; watching throwback movies with her husband; teaching youth Black History; or following the lead of her adventurous children.
