Director of Writing Strategy and Editor. Kortney holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of San Diego, with a double minor in Spanish and Peacebuilding & Social Innovation, and concentrations in the Politics of Race & Ethnicity and Human Rights. Her background in research and academic writing centers on using a racial equity lens to challenge the politics of erasure by amplifying the narratives of Black communities across the Diaspora.
As the Director of Writing Strategy at English Hudson Consulting, Kortney leads the Writing Strategy Department in crafting impactful, competitive deliverables for mission-driven organizations that advance equity in Black and brown communities through strategies that authentically reflect the communities they serve. Focused on developing the expertise of Writing Strategists and shaping the firm’s overall writing strategy, she provides strategic oversight to ensure high-quality writing services that uphold the firm’s standards of excellence. Her leadership positions the team to effectively capture each client’s unique voice and align their missions with critical funding opportunities.
Driven by a deep commitment to racial equity, food sovereignty, birth justice, climate justice, and human security, Kortney leverages her expertise to advance collective liberation within and beyond her work. Based in Dallas, TX, she is actively involved in local nonprofits and mutual aid organizations addressing disparities across the greater DFW metroplex. Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Kortney enjoys reading, discovering new music, horseback riding, and international travel.
